I'm a new owner of a 1997 Volvo 850 that I "inherited" from my mother. Following a 300 mile weekend trip, the car developed a strange noise near the front of the hood. I did a little investigating and was able to determine that the noise is not belt related, nor engine. When the key is in the "II" position (radio on, engine off) the noise starts. It continues while driving and doesn't seem to be connected to the internal heating/cooling system (increasing blower speed makes no difference).
I'm nervous about what this could be and am wondering if anyone has any idea about what's going on. Does this sound like something that only a dealer should repair?
Anyone know of a reliable Boston area repair shop that isn't a dealer?
Thanks!
Sara
