PS: I used the grease supplied by GKN and it easily lasts 120K, no issues.
As long as the rubber boot is intact and does not allow dirt inside, it is fine.
A bit of grease leakage is no big deal in my book.
Actually the liquidy grease stuff that GKN "claimed" better for Tripod backfired on GKN.
Guess what, GKN now supplies the same grease for both inner and outer.

I killed two perfectly fine axles after repacking them. One died almost instantly, but I used a very thick Red Line grease. The other died in a few weeks, that one got the GKN grease. It was less thick, but still much thicker than the original grease found inside the boot.

Maybe GKN has changed the grease since then, it was like 10+ years ago. Could be GKN grease in NE does not get critically thick to kill the tripod, like it happens in MA in winter.
