740 Turbo, I couldn't resist it...

Post by June »

I just couldn't resist it!!!!! It was a one owner until last month. Absolutely everything works except the ac. No cracks in dash. Even the trip odometer resets and works. All the lights too. Just bought it today on a whim. It has a strange sticker on one of the windows. Surprisingly well kept for 31 years and 191K. So was it a bad idea!? Lol June

No name yet Abscate. I'm feeling stupid... I drove her home 101 miles in 104° weather thinking the ac was out. Well MVS saved the day today! It's A ac off button, not a ac on button, so pushing the button in turns compressor off not on... pushed the button to the raised position and the ac came on. Lol Absolutely everything works!!! Had the oil changed today and filled her with Premium. The result woke the engine up! Surprisingly no squeaks or rattling plastic anywhere, or wind noise either. $3,800 well spent. June

Forever Black will bring the bumper covers back to life. De-greaser and a Power Washer could clean up the oil stain in the trunk.

I took those photos when I got home with her. I did wash the paint on Saturday. Once it gets cooler I am going to clean her up properly. I definitely gained weight since I owned my original 740. Perhaps the 740 srunk? Lol Thank you for letting me know what to use on the bumpers and trunk! June

You are so right Abscate, those seats are wonderful! I think he died. I bought the car from the granddaughter who didn't like it. Technically it was titled in her name in June 2022. So less than a month. She pushed the ac off button and I bought it thinking the ac was out. She told me it was broken and we test drove the car in extreme heat... Only Volvo would make the ac button opposite to every other car lol. When I accepted her price she said she loves American cars especially Lincoln. I found the complete service history in the maintenance booklet and he used GTX 10w30 for every oil change and recordedit all. He also custom ordered the car and took delivery at the factory. I found the original paperwork and recognized the build acceptance sheet from Volvo. I've had a few over the years. I had completely forgotten how endearing those Volvo's were. June

Working with Forever Black is like working with Latex paint. It will wash right off with water .. if you do so before it dries.

Work the shade. In direct sunlight the Forever Black will dry to fast. That can be a problem if you overshoot. Also in direct sunlight it will not spread out as well.

1. Clean the bumper with water.
2. Damp ( not wet ) a rag with Acetone and wipe the bumper down. The Acetone will strip off any oils. The rag will pick it up.
3. Apply Forever Black with sponge brush spread it out thin so it will not build up uneven and streak ( No fat edges ).
4. Let the Forever Black dry some then repeat steps 3 & 4 until you have a even coat.

Note: Keep a damp rage handy. If you overshoot, grab the damp rag and wipe off the overshoot. If you do this right away it will not stick to anything including the paint. Like Latex, if you let it dry it is there for good.
