Oh, I just packed that very object in a kitchen box at my sons apt! I think it was smallish.

EDIT See this important note, and that I don't recommend this product, but there may be use cases. /EDIT

This came today, and not a moment too soon. Spectracide Japanese Beetle Traps

I put one of the two traps together in a couple minutes on my front porch, and a beetle went into the bag before I'd even hung it. It's been about 5 hours now and the bag has hundreds of Japanese Beetles in it . To say this product works is a wild, wild understatement.

The beetles started emerging from their evil underground lairs about a week ago, chomping and stomping all my roses :x

I used to kill them manually, but not this summer. I'm moving the dial up to 11.

Nope nope nope, not any more. I'm done with you.

Hmm, maybe I should get one (or a 100) of these.... this year seems to be a bumper crop for these beetles. I've been out at night and hand them landing on me, and my grape vines look terrible this year.

Hold on a sec. I'm still evaluating this. The net result might be a loss because of the attractor scent bringing J. beetles in from adjacent areas.

I've heard that said before. I'm not sure I could have anymore than I do now, Though.

454, I just went out and eyeballed my rose bushes.

Test result (soft science): do not use. There was no improvement, and probably (this isn't scientific, heh) worse than before.

Test duration (hard science): 48 hours, give or take.

Test result (hard science): that bag was filled with J. Beetles. At least a thousand. I threw it away, the whole thing.

Possible uses of this product 1 (mental health science): if you just want to kill these bugs because you hate 'em, use this trap.

Possible uses of this product 2 (social science): use the scent attractor as an irritant to your enemy. Just toss one in his yard at 4am.

I'm moving on to Neem oil, which I've used before with some success but with far more labor involved than these traps. Will report back here in a few days.

The battle resumes today. The nice ZEP bottle I didn't have last summer. I fought with a weak bottle sprayer. This ZEP should tilt the field in my favor.

These Japanese Beetles arrived in Colorado only a few years ago. I don't recall ever seeing or hearing about them before that.

Bushes sprayed.
Neem Foliar Spray

Foliar sprays are made with 4 tablespoons of clarified neem oil per gallon of water and are applied topically.
Use the foliar spray only at dark or dawn. Soak the entire plant, including the undersides of the leaves as well as any gaps or crevasses.

After 45 minutes to an hour, the spray will disperse, leaving no residue behind. Bees and other beneficial insects will not be harmed by the plant.

The spray will not kill any hidden grubs, but it will kill any adult beetles who are unfortunate enough to be hosed down.

Apply every other day for 14 days or until the beetles are gone, then reapply every 14 days as a prophylactic.
