1959 Dodge Lancer

I had a 1988 Lancer. Not as cool, but still something different than the Mitsubishi Lancer.

Nick you're amazing with these old Americans. What engine would that have had? (Without looking it up, which I'm guessing you don't need to do anyway...)

Did your '88 have the 2.2 4-cylinder?

88 has the 2.5 in it. No turbo, unfortunately. (It's my dad's car now.)

The 59 I'm not sure. I know a lot of the 50s models, but not all of them, and not a lot of the engines unless I've personally worked on them myself. I miss tinkering on older engines with single barrel carbs.

My mom had a '85 or '86 New Yorker K-car with the 2.2T, and it was kinda fast. My friend in my college dorm had a '89 Dodge or Chrysler 2-door with the 2.2T and it was really fast, for its era. I don't recall the model, but it was almost certainly another K-car. Not one of the sports cars like Dodge Daytona, more like a coupe. It could move. Her dad owned the Chrysler dealership in Castle Rock, Colorado. The dealer is gone now.

I could post 24/7/365 about cars, all day, all night, and still not run out of things to reminisce about, or ask about, or dig up info on. Cars are awesome. I think I took to them so hard so early because I played with Legos as a kid (I built neural building/technical pathways in my brain), and also cars represented freedom for me when I was approaching driving age. We lived in rural Maryland at that time, and all my school friends lived "in town", which was Timonium. I could only get to where they were by driving, so I yearned for that so badly.

Also, the roads were curvy and fun out there. Denver roads are all straight, every last one.

I played with a lot of matchbox cars, even as a teenager. :?

I've just found cars to be more my thing than anything else. I grew up around racetracks, racecars, and racing engine builders. Now I hang around people that either restore cars or build hotrods.

No idea. I'd put the year at 1960.
