That’s the UFO, which Volvo calls the supplemental air system. It injects air into your exhaust on cold start for emissions reduction. A vacuum leak can make cold running hard, yes.

Ok so I replaced that little bit of hose.

Looking at other things

I found this connection (I think it's the IAC idle air control valve) that has a bad connection

Cleaning it with contact cleaner now.

Here are some pics.

Looking for other things, then may reassemble and test.

After I clean the distributor and the rotor. And yes I do have the little plastic thing that keeps the rotor and inside the distributor dry...

Hopefully one day...I can get the piping for the straight intercooler pipe over the cylinder head modification...and then rip in and (rip kit I think it's called) rip into everything and replace with silicon hoses

Ok, lemme keep working and see what happens.

Well it seems to run better, but still skips a beat when warmed up.

And if I smash the throttle it falls on its face.

I will see how it is going to work tomorrow.

Fuel. Spark. Vaccuum. Hmmmm dunno which one to chase.

Maybe I will make a short video of the behavior when it is warmed up. After work tomorrow.

Thanks all

Frustrating, I am gonna start to throw parts at it, and I don't have the money to do that right now.

So I have to be selective

Al

Some free things to do (maybe you've already done these)
- Inspect every inch of vacuum lines, also listening for sounds of leakage.
- As mentioned previously, clean the cap and rotor contacts with emory cloth or similar, or scrape carefully down to clean metal.
- See if you can locate broken wiring to your OBD port. Seeing the SES light but not knowing the code will only slow this process down. (Maybe this should be at the top of the list)
- Clean the throttle body
- make sure air filter isn't clogged
- every hour, take a 10 minute break and regroup. Do something totally different; sometimes a quick reset helps get out of "ruts of thought"
Good luck!

Shade tree....thanks!

Will address this on Sunday..since I work the next few days.

Seems to be doing ok limping back and forth to work.

But still having the issue.

Let's see

Air filter-- checked and ok
Throttle body clean-. I think I did that somewhat, but will find a thread on here on HOW to do it, and actually do it!
Rotor and cap clean- yes, will be borrowing a Dremel tool , and gently scraping the contacts clean
Checking all vac lines. --- sometimes following allllll the lines and reading the line schematics are a PITA
Any lines to check first? (I know, all of them)
Wiring to OBD port-- any one have a schematics on this? Thanks!
