Transmission question XC90

Post by OutbackXC90 »

I've just purchased an XC90 D5 2008. With no upper gears. I was wondering when Volvo changed from the AW55 trans to the TF80SC?

So I can order parts etc to repair it. The nearest dealer or even automatic trans rebuilder is over 1000 miles away, so that leaves me, an automotive electrician who rebuilds the biggest CAT equipment.

Thanks Paul

Hello from the US. Diesel is a tough one. I don't know and many here don't either because we didn't get diesel anything after some 240s had it in the 70s. And a 740 80s.

I can't find anything on the Web for which transmission this has.

Maybe someone in Europe will have an answer.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

I think the answer is in VIDA. I configured my 2014D to use the International catalog and I believe the change for the Diesel engine occurs in 2006. That year notes the D5244T motor with the AW5x and the D5244T4 motor with the TF-80SC. After 2006, all Diesel motors are mated with the TF-80SC, at least from my cursory review.
