Changing master switch did not close the rear window. Tried a used OE part and a new Switch Doctor and no different. So either a broken wire most likely in the driver's door harness or a bad rear door switch. Those don't usually go bad but can't discount it.

2 Engine codes - P0220 (throttle position sensor) and P0301 (Cylinder 1 misfire).

I dare not drive the car any distance on an 11 year old timing belt so testing the 5 speed auto trans is not possible for any issues. I decided too much of a risk. So I passed on the car.

When you go to work you really check everything out. I guess I'm a glutton for surprises. If the body and interior looks good I suppose in my mind the basic mechanics can be dealt with... to a point . Maybe the guy now sees what he's got or should I say not and am willing to drastically drop the price so it's worth your while?

To be honest, the fact the hood is badly worn, and I noticed in the lower sun tonight there is a couple of long indents on the LHF fender have put me off the car. The mechanical side of things also put me off as it has the potential for a bad valve and no way to check the transmission safely without changing the timing belt and water pump. By that time you are already well into it and it could still be a bad car.

Safer and cheaper to walk away.

Also forgot the timing belt was last changed at 112,000km in 2011. Car is now at 260,000km!! EEK! Also being the 2nd belt the water pump is on the schedule too.
A 2000 RN engine has a timing belt interval of 180,000 KM, with the water pump due at 360,000 KM so isn’t crazy past due. Technically due on time of 144 months but not crazy old either.

It is interesting thst the same AISIN pump that has a 140,000 mile replacement on the -1997 R block suddenly lifts to 210,000 miles on the RN block. Less tension on the TB maybe?
