Cleaning MAF Sensor-Step by Step-2002 V70 78k miles
Didn't see step by step directions in the Repair Database for cleaning the MAF Sensor. Does anyone know where I can find this? Pictures would help too.

Sharon, it's very simple...on the top end of your air filter box, facing the driver, there is a roughly rectangular sensor with a wire connection on it. Unclasp the connector and pull it away from the sensor, then use a torx screw to get the sensor housing off of the end of the air filter box and also take a band off to pull it off of the accordion hose. Once it is off, either use electrical cleaner or MAF sensor cleaner (both are cheap at the auto parts store) and spray the little sensor sticking into the center of the sensor housing really, really good...just keep spraying it until it's nice and doused...but don't touch the sensor. Once everything has evaporated and it is dry, reattach the housing and plug the wire connector back onto the sensor and see if makes any difference. If you have stored trouble codes, you might have to get an autozone or other auto parts store to clear them for you with a scan tool. Hope it works...let us know.
