Now I have fulfilled my dream of a 2-post hoist in our garage, I have been looking at the oil drains that can adjust up to 6ft high for oil changes with the car up on the hoist. There is an option for a system that drains I'm guessing your oi l through the oil dipstick hole I'm guessing which means you can do it at floor level and not have to remove the oil pan drain plug. I guess in theory it might also work for the trans fluid in the auto or even manual trans as well as thinks like the angle gear and rear diff on AWD cars.
There is also a version that has the high drain catch can and then a 3rd which is a combo of both.
Has/does anyone drain their engine oil this way?

This unit is just the vacuum type and only drains through 'orifices'.
There is a store up here and if I tell you it is called 'Uncle Weiners' need I say more. Terrible rep for bait and switch on their website with products listed they have never had 'but we have this other one which is a lot more expensive we can sell you', along with a limited 3 month warranty that you have to contact a central office to return a faulty item and only if they say so (and apparently not often) but no money will be refunded, just another unit supplied it they ever agree. So basically, a terrible shop but they have a unit that does both for $300. Naturally they don't even have that unit online but it looks a little like this one merged with the previous one above:
https://unclewiener.com/product/new-air ... tank-awox/
A similar unit from any of the main 'brands' that do the same as this unit are closer to $1000+ but with a better warranty and support should an issue arise.
I could buy the first one and then just a plain jane unit with the bucket with a pole and a large funnel and come in around the $300 CDN mark but at least the first company has an awesome return policy almost better than Costco! Downside is the double sized storage area.
The vacuum stuff is a nice to have but when you have 3 AWD vehicles the suction/vacuum idea is a bonus for things like the angle gear and rear diffs, or the transfer box on the Toyota.
Any points of view appreciated, especially if you have used the vacuum type of system on a P80 or P2.
Thanks,
Neil.

Had the 8L since June 2021 and the 5.3L May 2019. Both work very well. I have done oil changes, brake bleeds (creating suction at the brake bleeder screw), power steering reservoir, master cylinder extraction for complete brake fluid exchange on all 4 corner. Lastly extraction of transmission fluid for pan removal and for a complete flush.
Extract till the transmission pan is empty and replace the fluid. Pull the hose at the radiator end where the transmission fluid comes out. Start the car to circulate the new fluid in the pan to flush out old. Add fluid and repeat.
Purchased the larger capacity as I got tired of stopping to pour out the old oil during the change. In retrospect the 9.5L would be ideal for one change as it gets harder to pump when it gets fuller. No more drain plugs and crush washer. Have drained a couple of times but found residual not worth the effort to remove the plug.

Have used on P1, P2, GS300, GS430 and Odyssey. The GS300 & 430 has a rear diff otherwise have use it on most of the systems in those cars.

That is good to know. The price of those 2 units is similar or more expensive than the first one from Princess Auto which has a much larger capacity. The advantage of the smaller units you mention is that you can dedicate them to different fluids. Ideally, I would not want to mix the coolant and the oil in the same unit as it may sludge it up. These look similar to those you linked to at Amazon:

Maybe the larger 30 liter unit for engine/trans oils and a small 6 liter unit for power steering pump and coolant?
On sale too!

The 7.3L on sale at $90 is a great buy! 6.0L is $159 and border line usable if ever needed for an oil change. Having the 30L is a treat as it can use air from a compressor for suction. Photos using the 5.3L today. The extractor can't be filled to the top so had to pour it halfway.
