Looked up factoids out of curiosity.....

"The Batmobile was stored in the secret caves beneath the stately living quarters of Wayne Manor. The original Batmobile was actually a customized Ford Lincoln Futura, a unique experimental car designed by William Schmidt and built in Italy by Ghia in 1955. The car appeared in the motion picture It Started With A Kiss (1959).

When production schedule for the BATMAN series was moved up, Dean Jeffries, the person originally chosen to design the Batmobile, was replaced by custom car-expert George Barris (a.k.a. “The King of the Kustomizers”). Having only three weeks to build the car, Barris chose the experimental Ford chassis because it already had a double bubble canopy. Extending the drive train eleven inches Barris sculpted a 23-foot aerodynamic hand-formed steel body over the Futura chassis with front-end twin nostril scoops and an impressive jet-styled turbine engine exhaust nozzle. He then mounted a moon-equipped 429 racing Ford engine, with dual Granitelli Paxton turbo chargers with nitro oxide thrust control and a hydro-trans mounted into a locked posi-traction rear end."

So I'm gonna call poop on George "sculpting a hand-formed steel body over the chassis," since we're talking three weeks, and especially since we can see the shape was already there in 1955. All they did was modify the nose and rear nozzles and add a lot of flash.

"Extended the drivetrain??" Or extended the body? Confusing.

He covered up the grille, added flares, painted everything black, put a nozzles and fascia on the back, changed the fins, and added Bat Lights!

Glenn Ford and Debbie Reynolds drove it around in 1959 in "It Started with a Kiss."

I think this is maybe the last year for Oldsmobile, soon dropped from the General Motors lineup.

A plurality say this is the best-looking car ever produced. I won't go that far, but I will say it's got curves for days, like Marilyn Monroe. Somehow for me they don't please my eye as much as they please others' eyes. Whatever, I wouldn't kick one of these out of the garage.

Looks like 1935 to me, full of Art Deco taste and grandeur. Would this be the Deuce Coupe? What the Beach Boys sang about?

"Duece Coupe" is CaliSlang for a '32 with a flathead V8,

That one looks like a hot-rodded '36.

The venerable E-Type. This is one of the later big V-12's - note the scoop under the belly and big grille for extra cooling, and the sticky uppy headlights. Also a lengthened body for 2+2 seating. It really changed the proportions.

The early ones (1961) were really elegant, and a really serious sportscar with one of the truly great engines. Look at that back end / bumpers / taillights. (and I wonder of that recess in the back might have popped up in 1964 in the 911, hmm)

But I'm like you, they've sort of faded in my perception over the years.
