Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I always use Castrol 20-55, and I drive on the right(not the correct) side of the road. When I'm in Austria.

It was called formula 3000 corrosion free, its a brand from canada and people have written good things about it. Hoping its not all hype but install was easy and it didnt smell.MoVolvos wrote: ↑02 Oct 2022, 22:09.yanga001 wrote: ↑02 Oct 2022, 22:02 put a layer of corrosion free rust proofing on the v70 and my partners rdx. Did so with a buddies mazda 3 and toyota rav 4. Age wise it was v70 98 (394k km), rdx 08 (300k km), mazda 3 2011 (200k km), rav 4 2017 (100k km). Rust damage wise it was Mazda 3, RDX, V70 tied the rav 4 in order of most to least rust on the vehicle. My car had some sort of rubber coating put on way early in its life and i coated it with the oil spray along with all rubber components. The manufacturer said it was safe for rubber, and my thought process is it will soak into the metal behind the bushing or rehydrate the bushings. Will report on how well the rust proofing works over the next year.
Can you provide a brand? One guys on Youtube just used I think Tire Shine on his truck's underpinning after each off road excursion.

Thanks! How thorough was the cleaning before application? Although you said oil spray, is the consistency like that of water, Armour All or the tack of clear coat spray paint? What does it feel like after curing? A spray gun is pictured for application.

And I've never heard of 10w60 oil.
The 0w40 was a bit too thin I think, didn't really find a fully syn 10w40 so I used this 10w60, who cares. Valvetrain and engine sounds quieter now. Brand is Mannol if that is even a serious question, relatively cheap.
Yeah, all the 'roos come out of hibernation in winter, need some good oil to outdrive them

Oh deer, that was bad!!
On the rust prevention materials, I am hoping to shortly try a product from Europe that we have finally started to be able to buy locally in Calgary. Brand is Bilt Hamber. It comes in a large spray can with long tubes to allow you to get into box sections and the likes. I plan to start with it in the Toyota tailgate as the previous product from Krown is not working as I can hear loose rust in the tailgate each time I open it!

It is the Dynax stuff I am going to use. I then plan to use it in the frame rails of the Toyota which are just terrible for rusting.
Neil.

Hello,
That's interesting as i noticed i have a little rusting on my v70 too and was thinking about attacking that problem soon. It's getting cooler out now though hope i didnt miss the time. Any paint has to dry right and i doubt it dries well in cold weather.
Today, very early this morning when it was still dark, i went out for a drive. First time in over a year i drove the car at night. I found out that i could see everything really well and the LED headlights really are brighter so they were worth installing. They were a bit of a pain to install i did one at a time. The wires that connect were hard to run with the limited space and very limited way it had to run. The results are really good though i guess i'd have to recommend getting them.

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.
