hi all well after a couple of no start incidents today i removed the fuel pump relay and popped the cover off rather easily and sprayed a bunch of contact cleaner also all around the connector noted the part number and have had to go to caffyns volvo for oe one as it seems other than meyle a make ive never used or buying a used oe for £30,for £22 more i decided the caffyns is best idea,of course it may not be that but it is the original going by the code date so passed its prime i think, nice and easy to fit i do like the layout of the na 850 best, cheers all :D

Apparently the kangaroo got lost on his way to the zoo and he thought he was back in Australia too.

I have read that there are more kangaroos in Australia than people, possibly twice as many. That's amazing. I could just picture this huge number jumping around randomly in the fields ha ha.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

That's interesting as i noticed i have a little rusting on my v70 too and was thinking about attacking that problem soon. It's getting cooler out now though hope i didnt miss the time. Any paint has to dry right and i doubt it dries well in cold weather.

Today, very early this morning when it was still dark, i went out for a drive. First time in over a year i drove the car at night. I found out that i could see everything really well and the LED headlights really are brighter so they were worth installing. They were a bit of a pain to install i did one at a time. The wires that connect were hard to run with the limited space and very limited way it had to run. The results are really good though i guess i'd have to recommend getting them.
Just to add a quick note to that reply, you would have to get a quality set of LED headlamps i could easily see some not being as bright as others. LED's have greatly evolved over the past 20 years and the result was that the newer the LED the brighter they are per unit current. That means if you get an older model it probably will not be as good as the new one, and that rides with the fact that the prices also came down a lot over the years so a manufacturer would be able to place a newer LED into a newer model headlamp unit.

got the '89 740 sedan smogged on Monday- & the engine passed the test easily-
I've kept this car running through many difficult times.
An example follows:
after replacing the oil seal on the rear crank, it took me five attempts at setting the timing gear to the correct position. The transmission has to be taken down each time, to set the timing gear in the correct alignment!
there are no guides on how to set timing once the fly wheel and timing ring are dis-assembled from the engine.
I was, at the time, a fledgling DIY'er, so my knowledge of the B230f red block was "0".
Now, after going to mechanics grad school (lol) in my driveway the autos my wife and I depend upon ..are all running, albeit with some minor issues at times.
Each problem, or issue, always has a solution. These cars and the engines will run (&live) quite a long time with good maintenance.
I was very fortunate as there were many 740's & 940's in the local scrap yards- most of them had "almost" new engine or body parts. This was in 2009-2016, when credit was being given for newer car purchases.
Now tho, parts, and older Volvo cars are few and far between.

Yup, it's a bittersweet thing not being able to find the 2/7/9 cars in junkyards. Good that they're on the road, but it sucks because it's harder to find parts.

Gave Kat the weekend off and took the ManBeetle for the weekly ferrry commute. Kat did four ferry trips last week as Abby grabbed her to have twin time. Called me to tell that the coolant temp gauge was one hash too low.

That’s my girl …..

Replaced thermostat with the T5 87c

I recently swapped in a lower airbox from a Turbo car, into my NA. I had not done anything about the vacuum line coming from the Christmas tree that is no longer needed for the air intake door. Today, I disconnected it, and removed it from the clamp that screws to the throttle bracket.... dropped the screw, but retrieved it. I then measured to verify that I need a 5mm (or 3/16") vacuum cap.

I'm surprised that local parts stores don't seem to carry the vacuum cap, I need. NAPA might have one, but I hate going there due to a bad prior experience with them. Also it's out of my way. I probably just order something. In the mean time, I just reconnected the OEM Volvo vacuum line, but didn't run it thought the clamp, so I can remove it in seconds. I verified that the open port on the airbox doesn't pull vacuum.... I should have done that earlier.

It is all a learning process! Leave a short piece of tube and stick an appropriate size of bolt in there for now until you can find a suitable cap.

Had planned a trip to the local junkyard to look at pulling some seats. Currently at $15 each. If I recall correctly there were a few with nice looking seat covers good enough for spares. I would pull the covers and seat foam with the heater elements and keep those and return the rest as they are too bulky to store. Don't need the covers as mine are the 'R' seats which you never find in the junkyard.

Plan came to reality when my back went out....................! I advise don't get old, it sucks!!
