Story gets stranger. Both the Super Bird and the Dodge were inside. Seems this poor fellow owns four (4) winged Chrysler products from the heyday of weirdness in NASCAR. He moved two to some safer place, then - keep in mind this is Florida, so we are talking about Florida Man here - for some reason he left the other two on the four-post lifts in the garage. Water weighs eight pounds a gallon, and it was angry when it came ashore. The garage doors were no match, the cars took flight.
Perhaps the man ran out of drivers for retreat to safety.

Where in Florida did this occur?

As I recall the hurricane path forecast earlier this week, the initial expectation was to make landfall much further North around Tampa Bay. A day or so later the path changed and landfall was expected in the Fort Meyers area. This may have led to a last minute removal of the wing cars.
I was watching the path each day as I have a sister in the Tampa area. They are OK.

1930s Stout Scarab
The Scarab was to be sold by invitation only and the price for one of these beauties was $5,000, a huge sum at that time. In today’s money, that would be approximately $89,000, which is close to the price of a Tesla S with the performance package. It wasn’t cheap by any means, but they were hand-built and each one was unique, so you could say that the price was well worth it.
