I’m new to the forum, but read up quite a bit before posting anything.
I’m a car mechanic myself, but was a bit overwhelmed today hence my first posting on this forum.
I bought my V70 a few months ago and it was sitting in a garage as it’s my car for winter time.
I noticed a strange sound from the engine (I supposed) when I took it to the garage.
Today took it to my little workshop and wanted to repair the car, since I was convinced it came from the engine itself an sounded like the o-rings of the oil pan gone bad.
It seems like this is not the case.
You can clearly here a loud ticking noise from the transmission in the video I attached. The sound occurs when the car’s idling and when any gear is put in, but it’s gone when the clutch is open (so when I’m pushing the pedal).
It seemed like the noise came over time, when the oil in the transmission became warm.
Even though I’m not quite certain on this particular detail.
Anyway… I’m thinking about three possible broken things from best to worst:
The release bearing, the dmf (I think it’s called this way) or the transmission itself.
Maybe someone experienced can help me pinpoint the issue since I’d like to know the cause before taking the car apart.
Thank you in advance!
Edit: hopefully my english is good enough for anyone to understand!
