No gears from transmission

Post by Khyren »

The car is a 1998 V70 AWD GLT that I put the engine and trans out of a 1998 V70R into. I have put less than 1750 miles on the car since the swap and now the trans just says no. No first, no reverse, and no second(using winter mode). The fluid is still redish but is slightly blackened.

When it happened, I went for a drive and then came back into town and there was something weird about the car. So I stopped at the shop where I work and checked the fluid and it was full right at the hot range. When I went to leave, I had no reverse. Turned it off and waited a bit got reverse and first back. I thought all was ok for the moment and so I drove the 1/2 mile home. When I stopped at a light, first went away but I was able to use winter mode to get it to go and made it the extra block home. Third was there all the way and even went into 4th. Now I have absolutely no gears after letting it sit for 2 months. The engine and trans are before the major vin change of 405797 and the car is after this change. When I first got the swap done, the trans was perfect and just a week prior to the no gears, it started shifting hard under full power. No codes and no lights. The 850 android app shows that the PNP switch is showing the right gears but the solenoids don't seem to be operating at all. I'm at a loss.

I had similar problems to this. I ended up going the M56 manual swap route.
You could try replacing or cleaning the pnp switch. Also, make sure all wires are properly seated after the swap. They might have come lose. The solenoids can be purchased and replaced afaik, but I doubt S1 and S2 die at the same time.
