Impressive. Steering wheel is a bit baroque for me.

The comments section notes the original owner bought the extra wheels and snowtires not long after he got the car. They don't seem to have ever been put on the car. I only saw a couple of the over 200 pics detailing any rust, so my guess is - Garage Queen.
36,000 miles in 40-odd years isn't a lot of exposure.

Lots of detailed upgrades, suspension and internals, features a "heckeblende" panel.
Builder seems quite accomplished, I hope it does well.

This is a good looking 242. It's been making the rounds on Facebook Volvo groups.

The hood hinge rusted away.

The $1,800 offer would seem more than generous; it was made by somebody who is less than sincere about wanting the car, it is some strange Ego thing to make a bid using the car year or model number just to show the user name to the population. I've never noticed those bidders continuing in any of the auctions they start.

There is a link in the comments section to the build thread on TurboBricks. Quite a voyage, and obviously a car he always intended to drive.
I think he should get extra credit for taking care of Robert during a difficult time in his life.
A comment from somebody pointed out a rust spot in one of the wheel wells, and that night, Dan fixed it and posted new pics.

No-sale at $15.5k
BaT sends the high bidder info to the seller, there might be an after auction deal.
