Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spider

"A finely tuned Maserati 6-cylinder engine has a lot of torque readily available in the lower end of the curve and keeps going almost till that red line.”

"And remember, these engine blocks with an almost identical architecture propelled many drivers, including Fangio, to glorious victories,…”

"Of all the cars I have ever owned, and that is a very, very long list – I think the one I miss the most is my 1962 Maserati 3500 GTi coupe. It was an addictive, endearing monster of a car."

"These Spyders are not just beautiful to look at but also have the edge over their contemporaries if you intend to actually use them: roomy cockpit with great ergonomics and better seating position than any Jaguar OTS, far more torque lower down the rev range than either a 250 GT or a 300 SL.
This particular car, with ZF 5 speed, front discs and the foolproof Webers, is near the optimum spec for driver enjoyment."

"Even though there were many aesthetic modifications through the years of production, the constants are their driveability and performance. The whole package was about something other than showing off."

"This is the kind of car where you need Sophia Loren as a passenger, or you are her passenger. Either works, but the key here is obviously Sophia Loren."

That is a really pretty car, and it sounds like it has a lot of character. Also, 280+ photos! Now that's how you list a car.

Took a trip south to Scottsdale for the Good Guys Classic car show with autotest and classic drag racers.

Interesting show, but little in the way of Non-US cars, which is ok. A few Mini's, MGB's, a 73 Mercedes 450SE and a 1980's Rolls Royce. Last 2 were for sale. Only Far East car was a Z350/370 or whatever. Oops, forgot a bunch of early 80's 280ZX and 300ZX. Still never understood why anyone bought them or now want a lot of money for them?

Anyway, here are some pictures. First one was one of Good Guys 12 finalists. It was owned by some guy called Kevin Hart..........!

I'll take the black hi-boy with the (maybe) Halibrand magnesium knock-offs. (note the safety wires on the knock-off ears)

And who doesn't love a burgundy Riviera?

Well, as those appear to have been well received, here are a few more. Check out the last one. Owner was a hoot. I did suggest he could stack another engine on top. It had 2 x V6 Chev motors side by side!!
