New Prius looks... good?

Post by matthew1 »

It's pretty fast looking! I kinda like it. (Again the no-glass problem of all new cars these days... pretty soon there won't be any at all so I suppose I should be happy?)

Maybe A Bigger Engine, More Power, And Speed... ?
Toyota's Euro-market information for the Prius and its plug-in hybrid sibling, the Prius Prime, hint at big power upgrades to the traditionally slow and underpowered models. Switching from the old Prius's 1.8-liter gas engine to a bigger 2.0-liter unit, along with what could be changes to its electric motors, ups the regular hybrid's output to a staggering 193 hp and the plug-in Prime's to 220. Prepare to maybe have one of these Priuses running up your back bumper in the left lane, because Toyota is claiming the PHEV can hit 100 kph (just about 60 mph) in 6.7 seconds—not sports-car quick by any means, but unheard of for a Prius.

All this power is stuffed into a second-generation TNGA platform, Toyota's modular setup that now sits beneath nearly all of its car and crossover lineups in America. Again, full details on the Prius's hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems, its features, and U.S.-market specifics will be revealed tonight, but for now, Europe's preview has us genuinely looking forward to seeing more and—we can't believe we're saying this—driving this seemingly quicker, more stylish Prius soon.

Yuck! Toyota can keep it... If Toyota remakes the 1986 Cressida, then maybe. Lol

Earlier this year I bought a 1991 740 turbo. It has reminded me what brought me to Volvo in the first place. I really wish these companies could make something with character rather than something out of a video game. Any time I take the 740 out it gets almost as much attention as my Yorkie! Even teenagers seem to admire it's styling. That surprised me the most. June

The windshield is super, super raked. Pretty soon they'll be the same angle as the hood.

Hey, that's where all the glass is going. I knew it was going somewhere. That's where it's going. The more you rake the windshield, the more glass it needs. They're getting that glass from the side windows. Duh.
