Electric Help - 99 V70 GLT

Post by LoverOfP80s »

I have an electrical problem with my Volvo I was hoping I could get some help with.

I just completed some major work (Oil Well O-rings,All Camseal Replaced, removal of interior Mold,New Exhaust, all Vaccum Hose replacement, new battery ). When I started it up after all this work it was idling oddly. I found it was a dirty MAF and brake booster Check value leak.

I cranked it up it if was purring like is should after 2 years of sitting. Then out nowhere it wouldn't crank.
I tested the new red top battery and it is fine. I checked the all the engine bay ground I know about and those look good. The Main - and + lines are upgraded to higher gauge wire with no signs of corrosion or damage. The Positive line that runs to the Fuse box is Newish(2 yrs old )
Starter is Newish, It was replaced with OEM (2019) only has ~7-10k miles on it. I checked the fuel pump relays with Multimeter and it looks good. I checked all fuse in engine bay

I did have some door seal leaks that brought water into the car while it sat. I am wondering if there is a ground inside the car under the carpet that might be corroded. I am unsure of the locations I need to look at. Does any one have suggestions ?

This is a video of what the car acts like when I attempt to start it. https://gofile.io/d/PcZBLr
The power drains and no indicator illuminate. Jumpstarts make no Difference. if I disconnect and reconnect the battery after this power drain, the dashboard will illuminate like normal in the until I crank the key to start again.

Please help me get this money pit running .I have had this car 110, 000 miles and I am trying to get another 10 k pleasure out of it

What shows Battery voltage when this happens? Does it go low (high current somewhere or nothing so connection just disappears like bad ground)?
Then other value from load side like from fuse or OBDII port.. or +12V DC outlet/lights (goes dim?) etc..

Check the starter and/or solenoid. It might be stuck, which can suck amps, which might be the reason the instrument panel lights dim during starting. While you're checking, might as well check the wiring going to the starter/solenoid. You can try tapping on the starter and solenoid with a small hammer to see if it will become unstuck, if it was stuck.
It's blowby
