Really neat ! ( but I don't believe that's a Ford 289. Distributor should be up front - heads don't look right either )RickHaleParker wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 20:52 Surplus 1958 Volvo PV444 on GovPlanet

It will cost $1000's to put his car right. Sure it is a spaceball trans shifter, but look at that driver's seat. That car has not been looked after.
Have you ever watched the V70R rescue on Elliot Alvis's YouTube channel? He started with a car like that about a year ago and it is still failing in a big way. It is like 'Wack-a-mole', as soon as he fixes one thing another breaks.
Not for me!
We had another auto for sale here recently with lower mileage and better interior for around the same price. It also had issues and strangely it has not sold. There is an S60R on Vancouver Island that has been for sale for a long time. Not sold. Owner looking for $13,800 CDN. Wonder why it is not selling? It is also a manual.

Oh it paints the picture perfectly... I don't think I've ever heard a better description of so many S60R ownersmatthew1 wrote: ↑24 Nov 2022, 11:01 Neil, do note there's a difference between spaceball S60R and spaceball V70R cars... V70Rs are more desirable, and people pay more for them. I don't know if that's because S60Rs draw more of the 22-year-old, weed dispensary employee, mumble rap type of owner* or what, but the demographics between the 60 and 70 are not (exactly) the same.
I also think it's important to differentiate between the value (and future collectability) of these V70R manuals vs. the actual "rubber meets road" of keeping them on the road to use as a daily driver. Like for me for instance, the draw of a V70R manual isn't so much making it a good $ per mile ownership car, but just plain knowing one is in my garage.Warm fuzzies.
That said, I'd take a P2 V70 T-5M over one of these, all else being equal.
* yes, that's a full-on stereotype and I'm sorry, but I think it helps paint a picture here
I would like to think Chris did well - barring the Unforeseen - on his recent '98 T5M score for some of the same reasons. HPT, wagon, not hateful miles, and the car didn't appear to have been used as a dog house. And, of course, it doesn't have the baggage associated with the AWD gear out back. After all, Julius Caesar in his account of the Gallic Wars coined a new word for baggage:bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑24 Nov 2022, 11:33Oh it paints the picture perfectly... No offense to those on here, there are plenty of S60R owners who have and enjoy the cars for what they are. But there are obviously a LOT of beaters out there.
I'd also take a T5M over an R. Specifically a 2005, but those are stupid rare.
That's because it's a Hemi. '53-57, 241 ci Dodge.Sveedy wrote: ↑24 Nov 2022, 07:53Really neat ! ( but I don't believe that's a Ford 289. Distributor should be up front - heads don't look right either )RickHaleParker wrote: ↑23 Nov 2022, 20:52 Surplus 1958 Volvo PV444 on GovPlanet
