P0014
04 V70 2.4, recent oil change, just had the CEL P0014 come up. Im 500 miles from home with minimal tools, any suggestions? I think ive had this code on other Volvos I've owned and a fresh oil change often would "fix" it. Dave

I'd check the oil and drive it home.
Recent oil, is it syntheic oil, they don't like regular .
Sludge in the oil can cause the CVVT solenoid to react slower and set the code.
Theres a procedure in VIDA that runs the CVVT through a sequence and logs the reaction time of the solenoid.

Jones- yes full synthetic, castrol I think. I'm away from home for at least 3 more weeks. Guess I could hire out another oil change but that seems kinda dumb.
I priced out camshaft sensors, not a lot of money, simple to switch out. Wondering if I should just drop $50 and try a new sensor. Could do that in the parking lot of my hotel. Thanks for your reply! Dave

Not a big deal with that error code. The ECU will set the cam flank to the safe limit and leave it there. Safe to drive home. I wouldn’t fire the low probability parts cannon on this one
