Flare wrenches are essential for working on hydraulic line fittings. They are twice as deep as regular wrenches and wrap around the fitting, touching each face. This provides maximum contact on fittings which often stick or bend due to being soft metal. These crows foot flares have those same attributes. Makes them hard to remove from the fitting and reposition, but totally worth confident pipe removal and reinstallation.
I bought a great set of regular flare wrenches to work on brake lines (before I knew to buy used copies of non-moving tools, oops). Even they fail on some rear caliper fittings. Thus I learned to flare my own replacement lines.
