2006 C70 Problem with trunk lid upper section not releasing when trying to close top

Post by mpau »

Hello,
We have a 2006 C70 hardtop convertible that has been problematic in trying to close the hardtop.
The current issue is getting the two-part rear trunk lid upper section to release first, and then allowing the rest to fold down and close.
The problem is intermittent and usually it does not work.
Original problem was that the headliner got caught up in the hardtop when the customer was putting it down.
Instead of stopping, they continued to force it and when the headliner broke, the top also stopped functioning.
We subsequently fixed both the headliner and top to the point where it functions most of the way, and some of the time.

As of now, we have replaced pistons and re-timed it several times. Sometimes the top and windows complete the cycle up and down.
Other times the trunk lid upper section will not release and fold down, and then subsequently let the rest of the lid down to complete the procedure.
Do you know why this might be happening?
Are there any micro-switches we need to check?
The fluid levels are all fine.
Nothing is bent or warped anywhere.

Thank you,
Pete
