2007 XC70 No airflow to windshield defrost vents
2007 XC70 No airflow to windshield defrost vents
So it seems everything here is working e.g fan, heat, A/C. the switches that take the airflow from the floor, dash vents, windshield vents light up and I get air from dash and floor. (auto button works too). I'm just not getting airflow to the windshield vents. I removed the glovebox and I can see the gear turning on the main airflow housing when I switch the airflow buttons. I've read some related issues where people referred to a blend door arm breaking or cracked. Is that what I'm looking for? Or could it be a blend motor or actuator. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Was the heater core ever replaced?
Sometimes the blend door arm is broken when heater core is removed.
I documented it in the Heater Core DIY.
PS: The place to check is on the driver's side.
Once the trim panel (side panel) is removed, you can inspect the blend door arm.

My 05 S60 started blowing hot air on the drivers side while the temperature control was at a cold setting. A trip to my Volvo guys found error codes with their diagnostic machine. They reset all the error codes and everything has been fine since.
They did warn me that resetting the codes might not be a permanent fix, but its been fine for a couple of weeks now.
These are the error codes read by the more specific Volvo machines.

I saw the term swapnostics here. Should we add code clearnostics to that list too?

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

That one is for driver side temperature blend door. Air distribution is on the passenger side.cn90 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2022, 21:39 Was the heater core ever replaced?

You can run a CCM calibration in VIDA. If that helps, you need to replace a blend door actuator: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... or-8623354 I think it's the upper one, on passenger side:

Also if memory not lying, it is much easier to replace then the driver side actuator, since you can remove the glovebox and get a much better access to both motors.

Hey Gang! Thank you for that useful information! At least now I know what I'm looking for. I'll get that actuator out and test it and check the arm at the same time. I dobt very much that the heatercore was ever changed. I got this beast with 171K miles. Has 218K now. Just wont die! I could not find that Heater Core DIY, I'm new here!
Ok so I checked as instructed and found that its the bottom forward actuator that moves the blend door for the defrost vents. The arms are fine, actuator is toast. Got one ordered from FCP and I'll have in about 3 business days. Let you know how I make out. Thank you again!

You need DiCE/VIDA to run CCM (climate control module) network topology discovery, it will try to find all the IDs on LIN bus where actuators live. New one will probably come with a different ID, so it will not work. Maybe yours has been replaced previously, but it was never discovered by the CCM.
Received the new actuator and vtI is correct, the CCM does not recognize it. We used and iScan device to check both the old one and the new one. The old one was recognized and just fried. At the moment iScan does not support Volvo coding, we have to wait until February. Ugh!. Any recommendations for a coding tool that can do this job?
