The higher the labor rate is in your locale, the more valuable a solid backup car is worth.

My fixed costs on a light use car are < $500 annual, so if I can keep one one the 8 people driving while I deal with 5 hours of maintenance and repairs per year, it has paid for its existence in my book. I hope to shed some wheels as. My fleet life collapses from 5 locations to hopefully 2 in 2023

Wow, and I thought 5 was "bad"..... I guess the fact that I only have 2.5 of those roadworthy is bad.

I also want MORE! I keep seeing cars I've love to bid on, at the auction house. There was an 80's BMW 535i that would have been really cool to own.... or at least that's what I was telling myself.

I only report cars with tags and insurance - currently 6. Currently running 3? Total fleet double digits.

I have 4 tagged, daily drive my X5 or E39, although my V70R has been my daily this week. I brought my E46 to my shop so I'd have the motivation to finally drop the rear subframe and replace all of the bushings before it rips itself out of the chassis. Chassis cracking is a common problem on those cars... best to get ahead of it!
As for the rest... two are parts cars, one is a project I passively work on, one I'll get to eventually, two are projects I can't even think about right now, and one is a flip.

Got you beat - and that's just the Volvos. Some liquidation is in my near future though.
