And it looks pretty mean, but it's nice and docile. Just a 3.8L v6, no LS swap in this one like the last Mustang I owned had. That thing was a beast. Coilovers on all 4 corners, solid engine mounts, dual 3 inch exhaust, tubular k-member, built 8.8 with a full spool, high stall converter, and a built TH350 auto. I'm sure there's more that I've forgotten to list, but it was a handful on dry roads and even more so when it was raining.
No real plans to do anything wild with this one. I just plan to keep it as stock as possible, and easy on gas. It's almost as rust free as the Volvo was, too, which is nice.

You had a GM engine in a Mustang? Solid engine mounts, whoa... serious speed stuff!

I did, and it was scary quick. With the high stall converter I couldn't just ease into the throttle, and with manual steering, and full spool, trying to make a sharp turn from a stop was no easy thing to do. Also with the exhaust as loud as it was everyone looked when I just started it up and having it idling, and when I laid into the throttle it made people jump and cover their ears. Not really meant for the street, but it was still my daily driver while I had it.

Why do I want this thing?
Why do today's cars have windows the size of gun ports on armored cars?* Look at all that beautiful glass.
Why did Subaru's 1980s/90s designers make everything weird, every detail? Why do I like it?
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/cto ... 80822.html
Nick and I were talking about this car over texts, so here it is. Might as well share the wonderful weirdness of this Subaru. (Yes, I'd love to own this car for real, but parts would be hell to track down.)
* I know, I know, I should give the whole glass thing a break and find something else to harp on

Don't break the glass lol I doubt that you could find replacements!
Is anyone here close enough to go see this in person? Perhaps go on a test drive and let us know how weird it really is?

I can't tell if it's modeled after all the popular cars of the 80s or the outcasts, but there's just something about it that screams "BUY ME" that keeps making me look at it. It's fugly, but in a good way.

The clash of the LCD displays and the analogue odometer irks me, in a 2001:A Space Odyssey vs Fritz Lang : Metroplis kind of way.

I did text the guy last night to correct him that it's actually a 1985 and not a 1986 model and he updated the ad. Something tells me he's not the original owner, but I could be wrong.

Generally speaking, the '80s were not very good years for automotive design, among other things, IMHO.
That steering wheel / column thingy is the equivalent of the Mullet.

A friend of my son has a '85 Dodge Shelby Charger ( one of 1000 ) that he just recently rolled on it's side. It went to the wrecker, and I thought about buying it as a project. But it is another really ugly '80s car, so I decided to pass on it.
I still wonder about just grabbing the engine for.......
