[SUCCESS] 1999 S70 GLT ETS sensor replacement related questions.

Post by z80 »

Hello!

In an attempt to solve the problem described here: viewtopic.php?t=101235 I've just replaced the sensor on 1999 S70 GLT with the contactless one overriding the signal on the other side. However I have two related questions. I'd appreciate any hints!

1) I've been checking the resistance between terminals. I believe I've guessed terminal designations correctly on the 3-terminal side. But I'm not sure about pinout on the 5-terminal side. I measured the resistance between #2 and #3 counting from the bottom, see the picture attached. It wasn't always consistent with the throttle plate angle. Was that an indication of a failing sensor or I just measured between wrong terminals?

2) The kit sellers recommend using Permatex Ultra Blue sealant for sealing both all the terminals and for gluing the throttle box lid back in place. I've filled terminal cavities with this sealant. But it doesn't get dry. Only very thin layer on the very top gets solid but if I touch it with a screwdriver, it rips right through and it is liquid under it no matter how long I wait. Is it normal? How many days should I wait till it gets dry?

Thank you!

Ok. Almost 3 weeks later Permatex Ultra Blue has finally solidified. Car throttle pedal reaction feels different and so far RPM glitches did not show up. It looks like sensor replacement in my case is a fix of the problem.
