01 xc70: possible to mate a pre99 2.3L/m56 to an 01 xc70 awd car?

01 xc70: possible to mate a pre99 2.3L/m56 to an 01 xc70 awd car?
I found a cheap 01 xc70 in my FAVORITE Volvo paint color, Java pearl. It has cosmetic damage and needs a matching fender. Who around here is knowledgeable about the swapability/compatibility of a pre99 2.3L with m56 vs the AWD system of an 01 xc70? Is the 01 AWD system bad like the 01 auto trans? I want the best of both worlds: the mechanical side of the p80 and the tech and extra room of the p2.
