Went to Pick and Pull for speakers for my audio system test rig I am planning to build. there was a 99 S70, 00 V70 and a 97 850 wagon. I at least found the 850 rear pillar small speakers by the tailgate are the same as the 00 V70! Easy to pull as someone had already removed the liner panels on both cars. Dash speakers were a swine and fiddly to get out. Door speakers weren't too bad as bot S/V70 had the front inner panels already removed. Rears Had to have the door panels removed, and one of the S70's was a doozy as the door was stuck shut. Goot to know it is possible to get the panel of from the inside without destroying it.

Buddy asked me to pull a spare ETM from the 00 V70 even though it was an original. He wants to test it as a spare. Best part is that like many I have seen, they get the ETM off and then discover the wire is looped behind the starter motor, so they leave it. Took about 10 minutes to get the fan motor out of the way and another 5 to get the starter out.

There was also an 04 C70 so I went to have a look at it. Rear end damage to the trunk. Inside was very nasty. Most of the good stuff was gone, but found the apes had missed the 4 x 100W amp in the trunk. Bonus!

Bet part was when I went to pay, the nice lady refused to charge for the small speakers. I also had a $20 off coupon and with my 'senior' discount everything bar the ETM came to $80 CDN/$60 US bargain (I also rescued a SC-816 in nice shape as it was only $9 with my senior discount!).

Nice day too!

That's one way to do it!

The rear suspension is pretty easy to drop on these cars.

That's odd, I changed the ETM in a 00 V70 without removing anything. I had to carefully reach in and disconnect/reconnect the wire, but it worked. And it was a Canadian market V70 at that.

On the 04 C70, had they taken the unique subframe brace? I'm still hoping to find one of those some day.

If the redundant right side starter bracket has been removed, the ETM harness will come free. Stock is to run it behind the starter so the connector is trapped, being larger than the gap ‘twixt starter and block

I suspect that 2000's, at least after a certain VIN, didn't have that starter bracket. When I replaced the starter in my first one for the first time in the car's life, that bracket was missing.

Thanks! That price seems competitive compared to getting one from a junkyard which hasn't been mangled by a forklift. It's remotely possible that I could pick that up.

Does anyone know if a C70 subframe brace will fit a 1998 V70? That -98 vs 99- difference always worries me.

I don't think I've ever seen the ETM wiring routed behind the starter. Either that or it's always on cars that have had that bracket removed. It would make sense that it's tucked back there to keep it out of the way though.

After dropping off my youngest at school this week, I had a crank, no-start in the T5. Tried starting it for a good 10 minutes before swapping out a OE fuel relay from the Silver Bullet. It started right up, cleared misfires in cylinders 3 + 5 and it’s been running smoothly except for a brief stuttering loss of power.

Also picked up a tire changer on clearance at Harbor Freight, since both the T5 and the Silver Bullet will need new rubber very soon.
