I typically like to use any sort of siphon pump to do simple fluid changes. Normally if you want to "flush" the fluid, just extract, fill, then run the engine and turn the wheel back and forth a few times, then repeat. This pump does the trick https://www.harborfreight.com/multi-use ... iphon+pump

I use this now for these types of things, and it's awesome. https://www.amazon.com/FOUR-UNCLES-Extr ... NrPXRydWU=

I don't recommend it for oil changes, or any extractor type system. It takes FOREVER.

Hi,

Finally got two things accomplished, both were tricky to do.

The first is the gas hatch door. I bought a new hinge but the pins broke so i decided to use rivet nuts and M3 screws. Finally fixed.

The second is the wire i wanted to run from the engine compartment into the cabin. I finally got the inside nipple thing off and it was nice to see the end of my fishing line in the opening of the tube that runs from the engine compartment to inside the cabin. That job was nuts though because the nipple thing was just beyond my reach where only my fingers could barely reach the nipples and not the entire body of the nipple thing. I pulled and pulled but it would not come off, and i can tell you i stretched one of those nipples a good 3 or 4 inches and it still would not come off. That's when i grabbed a pair of somewhat large pliers, and it was hard to get a grip with the pliers cause it's hard to see up in there. When i finally got a good grip, i yanked hard and the dang thing finally popped off. I saw the end of my wire i had run already and that was really a relief.
You wouldn't think it was hard to do but that inside nipple is hard to see and hard to grab and it is REALLY on there good, so it took a few trips out to the car to get it done. Now i have the fish wire run through the tube so next i'll pull the wire through. Hopefully that goes well.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

So yeah ps fluid is changed. Right after that, I attempted reinstall of front bumper cover (continuing from where I left off of redoing the front end) which did not go well. Not installed. Got passenger side emergency brake readjusted. Kinda got the passenger side shock replaced (shock mount broke). And thats it. I feel like this was a tacky repair day. Fail.
What was your method for changing the PS fluid?
Used turkey baster to suck out old ps fluid. Put paper towels under ps pump, on top of ac compressor. Unplugged return (rubber) hose keeping hole upward. Plugged return nipple. Filled ps pump to brim. Used 3 empty water bottles for return line. Ran the engine for no more than 10 seconds to prevent ps pump from burning up before filling up reservoir each time.

I like this method as it's a one person job and you can take your time. Turning the steering wheel is helpful to cycle the fluid through the system. Instead of jacking up the car you can drive on top of some shopping or garbage bags to turn the wheel without starting the car.

I've used bags under the rear wheel to do a four wheel alignment on our C30. The second video shows the use of the bags. I was surprised on how well it worked.

Hi,

I've done my own alignment for years.
Toe in/out you can tell by standing in front of the car and looking down along the sides of the front and back tires. You can easily see if the front wheel points in or out. It's as if you had a 10 foot straight edge against both the front and back wheels on each side at a height of the wheel centers. If a wheel points in or out it wouldnt sit flat against the straight edge.

MrAl,
What do you do when the car body does not allow the straight edge to reach the center of both front and rear wheels (the body bulges out)?

Hi,

Get a acetylene cutter, cut that part of the body off then weld it back on later, or move the "straight edge" (line of sight) down closer to the ground :-)

I may have drawn the straight edge too high in that drawing. Even lower you can still judge the alignment.

This is one of several reasons I take it to Mr Alignment Man (or Woman) to get it all set...with LASERS!

Read the reply to that post.
Never needed an alignment job with any cars i ever had and i replaced tie rod ends.
You can use a laser if you like no problem.
