It was -3°C when I left the house to take the 850 on it's 13 mile journey to the MOT station, after a thorough inspection by the tester it was a straight pass and we're ready for another summer of out and about in style

We don't have any inspections except pointless ones. The change of Province inspection (only plus is it is mainly to check it is not stolen), and insurance safety inspection at around 12 years.

I miss the old MoT. It was thorough and if you had a good trusting garage doing the inspection, you knew that for at least one day a year it was safe to drive! The only exception was when a Volvo dealer did brake work and then had it MoT's and the brake master cylinder blew out 100 yards from the dealer. They had over pressured the 240 master cylinder seals forcing the pistons on the calipers back in!

Hi,

Wow sounds nasty.
I've seen questionable work all around now almost every place does something strange. That's probably why people here want to do their own work. I've been joining that rank too but only so much i can do myself.
For me the solar panel project started out as a necessity but turned into a hobby in itself. A lot of interesting aspects to it especially the fact that you get free energy which is amazing. It also got me back into things i haven't done in years like working with microcontrollers and solar panels.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Just like my audio test system it has grown arms and legs. This is taking way more time than I had planned for and maybe 50% completed. Hardest part is I want to be able to install standard P80 speakers in my test box and none of then are designed to sit on a flush surface. Rears are by far the worst. Oh, well, maybe get it finished this weekend if there are no more household equipment failures!

A few days ago I was at Walmart looking for AC uv dye and an oil/fluid pan. Was gonna drain the parts car gas to use in the Rotten Tomato. Found out the gas is from about April 2022. Cant use that gas after all.

Plus side, I swapped the 15" wheels from parts car onto the Rotten Tomato and it looks much better. Below are before and after pics for the v70.

At some point after putting the s80 wheels onto the parts car, I was walking from porch to driveway and saw the front passenger side wheel with silver paint. I felt a small ping of sadness because it was much reminiscence of my 960  . One day I want to get a 965 or v90.

Edit: you need to rotate images. Took pictures upside down.

All the gen 1 S80 wheels look great in my opinion. There wasn’t a bad one among them.

Hi Neil,

Yeah this stuff takes time. I keep adding to mine too.
I built a few speaker boxes in the past too it takes a bit of careful carpentry.
If it's a hobby though there is really no rush i try to enjoy it a little myself. When you get done with different phases of the project it's rewarding. It was nice when i got that wire through the firewall i wanted to do that for a long time.

Now there is an idea! With the Dolby speaker there are up to 9 speakers in a P80.......Hm............! That is a really nice piece of work. Sorry to say my workmanship is not quite to that standard. Actually not close!!

Al, great to hear you finally got that wire in place!! That was a challenge for sure.
