Looks like a fairly new build garage? It must have a fairly steep and high roof line to allow what you had done to be able to modify it they way you did. I had the challenge of building a new garage in a residential area with roof height limits and to stop the whiny neighbors. It meant a custom roof design to drop the garage roof peak by 4 ft! It means there is a step in the ceiling to about 4 ft into the garage and by going with a 'cottage' (4-sided sloped roof) the 30ft spans took less weight.

We built the garage in front of the original 26 ft x 14 ft garage with the low ceiling to allow direct and dry access to the house in the winter and our wonderful balmy ! weather.

We had to step the floors as the drop to the rear alley access was close to 18". Lots of 'fun' designing that and to build foundations solid enough for a spring running under the area. Sump pump also added and may still add a 2nd.

Looks like a fairly new build garage? It must have a fairly steep and high roof line to allow what you had done to be able to modify it they way you did.

I started the build in 2008 and it took me 2 years to complete, it was a steep learning curve as I'm not in the building trade. The roof was originally shallow and I rejected the architect's plan and told him I needed it higher to block out the apartments behind my property. New plans were drawn and the roof is now steeper than original. It also gives me the added bonus of storage space in the attic area

You can never have too much storage? Have you any spare space...............?!

Garage looks superb. I was tied my annoying neighbors and a PITA community association. Funnily, the City planning folks were much easier to work with. I think they found the whiners a pain as well so gave me latitude to stick it too them!!

I miss the garage space but I now have a minimum of 11ft around the sides and 12ft in the center section. Because of the winters here, I also had gas heating ducting and furnace fitted that a friend designed. It 'swirls' the air so there are no cols spots. Garage is also insulated to a minimum of R22 in walls and R40 in the ceiling. Toasty!

Had to 'babysit' a young mechanic working in my garage today. Guy is not trained in school but seems to have a natural ability and uses Youtube to research repairs before tackling them. Our friend tutors him as he has a reading age of about grade 4. He likes to come over and work on her car (replaced all 4 rotors and pads, as well as front sway-bar end links.

I don't like to stand over him while he works so I got on with my audio testing. Finished testing the resurrected SC-900 head unit but testing the radio portion, and was just giving it final wipe over when I realized that there was something wrong with the front plate. Finally dawned on me that I had not noticed that the cassette slot was missing the front door! Doh!!

Fortunately I had the original front face of the SC-900 and so scavanged the cassette door of it, disassembled the SC-900 again to remove the face-plate, install the cassette door and re-assemble it again. Finally it can be put away!!

When I pulled the faceplate out of storage, I removed another box and discovered there were 2 head units in there! Another SC-816 and an older SC-810 with no CD and only radio and cassette player , but it has the ability to drive a CD changer.

I connected up the SC-810 unit first and it fired up and then suddenly it went dead? I thought it was just a bad unit so I tried the SC-816 and same result, it was also dead. So my test rig had failed. Found one of the 3A fuses had blown?? No the power supply has an AMP readout and it is normally running at under 3A even with the amp in use ( 4 x 50W output). I fitted a 5A fuse in place of the 3A. All is good again!

First thing I do when checking the head units out is check the illumination of the front face. Naturally the SC-816 had 2 blown bulbs, and as seems to be common, the were the 2 left most ones of the 5 used.

Pulled it apart to replace the bulbs from my stash. I have re-built many of the bulb holders over the years and keep a small number repaired and ready to go. What I found when I opened the head unit to replace the bulbs, you have to un-clip the front circuit board to remove the bulb holders from the back of the pcb. As soon as I dropped the front board I noticed pieces of electrical tape over the back of the bulbs. Weird as the unit had a factory reconditioned label on it. Imagine my surprise then I found this:

Unbelievable!! All 5 bulbs had been fitted without bulb holders and just soldered to the pcd contacts!!? That is crazy and way more work than swapping the bulbs out of the failed units and replacing with a good bulb. Naturally I had to replace all 5 even though 3 worked still. Reason for that is the bulbs holders come in 3 colors, white, gray and black. Black holders are used in these head units as the bulb holder makes the lighting less harsh. If you don't match the color of the holders, the lights shine differently (no need to ask how I know! ).

I make up replacement unit from time to time, and of course mu stash only had 3/5 of the bulbs needed made up. So spent the afternoon making up multiple renewed bulb units and this evening I desoldered the 5 bulbs, removing the excess solder, and fitting 5 new bulbs.

Finally cleaned the face-plate and refitted and tested the unit fully. All good!

Tomorrow the SC-810 will get it's turn. It has at least one bulb out needing replaced.

Yesterday, I went offroading on the Rattan Trails from Hwy 3 to One Creek Road in the Rotten Tomato. Went well other than crazy amounts of squeaking from dash and tailgate. There were a couple washed out parts, a couple nice sized mud puddles, and plenty of rocks sticking up out of the road but most of the journey was dry. Man I had a BLAST.

The day ended with a bummer though because when I went to pick up bro and sis from gym, found out rear passenger side seat belt doesn't work. The rear driver side doesn't work either. Makes me mad.

Very nice garage ! I haven't seen actual 1 x 's used for roof sheathing except on 100+ year old buildings. Plywood or OSB is the standard on this side of the pond. Is that typical for over there ?
