hello, sorry dont know a recall number, and dont know how i got it on my pc, i was browsing for hours with link after link. however, i do recall it was somewhere on the vosa site, that is; www.vosa.gov.uk and i believe there were 12 recalls listed for the s80. i remember one of them was the tow bars coming off !!

Aha...could be a U.K. recall. We have not had that particular one (on the PCV breather box or otherwise known as the oil separator) here in the U.S.

Btw, it's best to post in the same thread that you started earlier. Otherwise it becomes confusing to others who are reading this and other posts. We'll see where this goes and I may combine it later with your first post where the recall on the S80 PCV system was first noted.

Also, thanks for the link to the Vosa site....I'll check it out!

no probs mate.
sorry about the two posts, im hopeless with pc`s and just discovered this site, as the uk volvo forums which i was in has closed down for now.
i know a bit about the s70 t5 or 850 t5 cos ive had a few of them, but the s80 is a complete different ball game. i am also wanting to know how to change the turbo oil return gasket and seal, looks difficult compared to the t5.

Actually, we knew about the closing of the Brit site and there was even a post in the info section (top of the forum) about the coming "British Invasion."

We have had more new members from the U.K. and I think it's great because there is some good information sharing that's going on. In regards to many of your questions, a great place to begin looking is the repair database. You should also check out Bay13 here: http://volvospeed.com/maintence.htm as new information has been added in regards to the S80...I believe the turbo return line is also listed there along with the filter change for your transmission. Anyway, if you have any questions, keep posting and we'll try to help. I personally don't know a whole lot about the S80 but do have a copy of VADIS (Volvo's software) with some write-ups as well as part numbers so I can look things up if need be.

hi dave, is it possible you could look up and find out for me where abouts the shift solenoids are situated on the auto box? i think i will have to invest in a vadis dvd. my car is in total bits just now, and i will get some oil and the filter when i know which type and how much to get. also, where is the g/bob oil filter situated?

I'm trying to do that in the other thread so let's keep it over there. I need to know which transmission you have before I can look up anything. Found out that there was a couple of AW transmissions made for the European model S80's which I can look up as well...we'll see after you post "over there."
