Happy birthday Mom! We went to a nicely done Carmen in Seattle long ago.

Jumping back into 850 tasks, starting with finding the hole in a tire from a big roofing nail. You know I hand-pumped that thing to 40psi, dribbled water, and not a single bubble. The miraculous self-healing tire!

And for our New Englander members - I’m not trying to rub it in, but the contrast in posted chassis pictures always surprises me, and I feel lucky.

This is a 29 yr old 850 that has lived a lot of years outside and gone on many long trips. It hasn’t been driven in a couple of months, so there’s a bit of rust on the rotors.

The crusty New England cars always remind me how lucky I am to live in the southeast. Fortunately cars around here look like your 850 for the most part!

my crusty car ( the rotten tomato) was from ohio, made its way to utah, then sold by that five and dime dealer to a young Japanese man in FtW that didnt know anything about how crusty it was. >review my thread on rust issue through my profile<. i even was upset and told him about how crusty it was and he told me i need to let go of my mommys hand and deal with it. LOL i was through-the-roof anxious but i did indeed deal with it. it turned out to be NOT JUNK like i thought it would be. restored, and your-crustiness does not appear to be rearing its ugly head.

The one issue I did have recently was thinking the sunroof was leaking. NOPE the sunroof restoration (although a great preventative move) was not the answer. located the windshield leak a couple weeks ago; I addressed it with only a little anxiety.

9Finally got the head pulled today on the xc90. I have a couple of questions since this is my 1st time pulling a head. Is it normal for each cam cover bay to be darker and more "cooked" looking from cylinder 1 to cylinder 5? When I pulled the head there were 2 sleeves sticking out of the cylinder block but there appear to be spaces for 4. Am I missing 2 sleeves? There are none in the cylinder head. It looks like 3 valves struck pistons for sure. It was pretty small though.

I don't see many Volvos here in town and when I do they're usually newer than a P80. Today while out driving I saw a blue 240 wagon headed the opposite direction.

Often times, it's not too bad to repair. I absolutely hate any kind of body work though, so I don't touch it. Anything structural I try to stay away from. That typical northern crust you see on suspension components isn't a big deal, but it ain't pretty to look at! It also makes it horrible to work on lol.
