Hi all, I had my mechanic install a Magnefine filter (metal housing) among the other things he was working on my 2006 V70R. When I drove the car home, the tranny seems normal but when I got home to re-check his work I noticed he installed it backwards i.e. the flow arrow is pointing towards the upper tranny cooler connector in the radiator. Would it be OK to reverse the filter so that it flows in the correct directions? Just want to know if I can reuse the filter or need to replace it with a new one. It's been used less than 100 kms. Thanks.

The paper media does not filter much. ATF does not really have anything for paper to filter, unless the transmission is on its last leg. What the filter is really good for is trapping soot sized magnetic dust.Geevs wrote: 02 May 2023, 08:25 Would reversing the filter dislodge the dirt already trapped by the filter since the flow is now pushing in the opposite direction?
Don't overthink it, just put it in correct direction and done.
