Probably find they are just stick on pieces. They were common a few years ago. If you look closely they have cut outs around the ECC controls so you can see the original numbers and positions for the controls.

Looks nice. My S70 has the "wood" on the console, but it's about 1/2 gone. It looks to be plastic and must have de-laminated and broken off.

Interesting find but likely stick-on like scot850 said. You can see splits above and below the S E W buttons below the shifter. Looks like the kit was complete enough to include the coin tray cover by the heated seats... but not the glovebox door.

I'm always interested to see any OEM dash that's not black or the typical fake burl wood. Wasn't there an oak-like grained wood and brushed metal?

Glove box locks and latches are known failure points, and sometimes drastic action has to be taken to gain access - Dr. Abscate wrestled with one not long ago. It usually results in a J/Y replacement.
The material on this dash has some depth to it, and looks way too precision to be somebody's cut-n-paste Montessori project. All the edges are eased, and the gain-match around the ECC controls looks like some care was taken. I will resist the urge to buy the car just to find out.

There are various wood colors for the V/S/C 70 cars. Not sure if it is a 2000 R only option but mine has a brushed steel finish to the center console top and around the radio and ECC. It is a pain as it catches and bends easily when you try to remove the radio or ECC. I did buy a full wood package to swap it all out, but decided to donate it to abscate for one of his project cars where it now sits proudly!

And whoever took the time to apply those stick-ons that so carefully ended up with ... that. As misha said, ouch.

FYI; the stick on woodgrain was dealer installed at least in 1998. It was stupid expensive for the time. Volvo of Tampa had added it to the 1998 V70 Cross Country I bought. I refused to accept the car until it was removed. They removed it and the addendum sheet. It wasn't about the money, i thought it cheapened the look. Volvo did offer real wood as an option on the S80. My sister's 2005 S80 T6 had it, and it came with the real wood steering wheel. It fit exactly in the place of the plastic woodgrain in my 2004. It actually was beautiful. My 2002 S80 T6 Executive had the brushed aluminum option in place of the woodgrain. I ordered it that way. I wish my 2004 S80 had the aluminum... oh there was a woodgrain sticker for the radio as well. It appears not on that car still. Great thread!!! June
