Hopefully not the fuel pump, and if it is, I really hope it is the fuel pump relay!

When the box arrives, there will only be a fine powder left. Very similar to opening a sarcophagus.

Plastic like rubber degrades with time, even when stored out of sunlight and in humidity controlled environments. However it will still degrade but it may slow down the process. Parts that don't need to flex may well be ok, but parts like the dash do need to be somewhat flexible. The last 2 dashboards I fixed (last one about 5 years ago) still seem to be holding up well. I think the metal support brackets like you see in Roberts videos does help and that is what I used on the last one along with plastic appropriate glue and my welder.

The repairs are significantly stronger than the dashes ever were but you will lose some flex.

Is there a way to add a small piece of plastic or metal sleeve over the pipe which would stop it expanding and bending?

Are you using submersible fuel hose? I've never seen one regularly come off like that.

Well some forward progress on the dash repair on the R. Finally had everything I needed to start repairing the 'spare' lower dash.

Removing the anti-squeak sticky felt tape over the 4 main mounts initially looked good with the standard RH outer mount broken. Not sure why the RH mounts seem to break first, maybe the weight of the airbag and the glove box??

The other 3 initially looked good, but a magnifier showed the smallest hairline cracks just starting so caught them in time. I followed Roberts process of using self tapping screws with wide heads. I drilled small pilot holes first so as to not crack the plastic further. To access putting in screws on the side opposite to the firewall I removed the 2 air pipes (one T25 screw and they each unclip).

Anyway, ugly but functional repairs. I will clean them up tomorrow once they have set to make sure the seat in the metal cut-outs on the firewall.

Tomorrow I have to tackle the lower plastic trim mount on the LHS which appears to be breaking up and then reinforce it with metal strapping as well on both sides. Then there are a few repairs on the LHS lower edge where the undertray mounts and a small repair on the glove box surround for one screw mount.

Finally there is a flying lead (no, not bullets, but tempting on this car!) for the alarm system needs to be soldered into the dash harness. Long shot but hoping to maybe start reinstall on Saturday when my son is around.

Has anyone else been following FCPs 850 project on YouTube? They just fitted a custom ITB intake that has individual throttles for each cylinder and it looks and sounds sick!

They start it up around 18:40
