Something I noticed messing with it in text mode - with passenger set to 72 and just messing with driver, if I go full cold on driver, the reading goes to 0% on both sides (as for actual temps out of the vents, driver stays full hot, passenger is full cold). When going to full hot on just driver, passenger also reports going full hot, but it doesn't get any hotter coming out the vents over there (and the dial stays at 72).
And then cold on driver only, and the readout it was showing:
None of this makes any sense. The driver side never feels anything but full hot, and the passenger side (while it works fine) doesn't feel anything like what's being reported, though the temperature from the vents feels like what it should be for the passenger side

Volvo does say if its "Air distribution selector" is in AUTO position ECC will control some functions and tells to put it in any other position (for some reasons..).
I have heard and asked previously is it normal if both passenger and driver move at the same time (or reports so). Though i don't have specific answer for that still yet but i did check reporting comes individually (maybe its like "wish these to have here" more like? than actual status of now?).
There is still some Live data items missing for ECC and programmable parameters still i try add in coming updates then example just my head tells me as thinking of these that temperature of cabin would be important to check so i will add that example but i try add rest of them too.

Changing to manual control of center knob doesn't change if it works or not, but maybe it will allow it to try to relearn again?
Do you think it might have something to do with the ABS module? I noticed that the ECC is always reading a slow speed - never 0 kph when stopped. The ABS module in my car has bad solder joints and I need to get it rebuilt. Would that have any effect? Doesn't seem like it would, but you'd know better than me.

Ordered an ABS module from Midwest ABS today. Hopefully it helps the climate situation. I kind of doubt it, but at this point I don't know what to think. At least it'll fix my ABS and traction control.

hello first of all.
I faced a similar problem before, this is how i solved the problem
1- first i changed the ECC i bought a new Ecc (dismantled from a scrap car)
2- I checked the positions of the damper motors before making the connections of the Ecc.
3- I set the right and left damper motors to full hot or full cold (no matter the location, it should be max or min). I performed this process with 1 piece of 9v battery.
4- Then I mounted the faulty ECC and set the airflow positioner to a fixed position (I only made it blow to the windshield)
5- I applied the ventilation system I had set to the ECC before making the connections of the ECC (position buttons)
6- and the air conditioning system was ready, now I installed the new ECC. I checked all positions I checked all temperature settings. and I saw that my operation was successful.
Note:Do not try to adjust the air conditioning system via OBD or VİDA applications because the result fails. I think this is a problem.

There is a chassis break on 99 dampers you have to be aware of, there was a change mid year to a single cam combined damper and blend door on the driver side. Make sure your parts swaps are compatible!

Its good at least have safety device working
Next update will have some extra items to read from ECC but i need example read out from ECT sensor from ECM live item roughly at the same time from ECC to be exact of values and if there is two instances of this with different temps, better result then.
It will have all switch knobs reading as well but i don't know what they refer per knob so only raw output value. If can slowly turn while logging on both from cold to hot i can then proceed from there convert to knob values. Some might include ERROR state too if goes wrong but App wont report it yet.
Please send then too new datalog as i thinking is there now two readings from motors like "wish to be here" and "i am here" which i included there as check for me.
For fine tuning ECC of its configurations i included too so then there shouldn't be left much any rock unturned then for ECC module as diagnostic purposes.
The fail you refer to is Self-Adjustment failing complete fully for various reasons. It will stay in Self-Adjustment mode (even on 2001 and up models) but it now can be kicked out from that "failure/brick/Self-Adjustment mode" back to normal operational mode by two individual confirmations of users whose ECC has been stuck in this mode.. via OBD (not Vidacan wrote: ↑09 Jun 2023, 20:13 hello first of all.

Good to know, thanks! I'm assuming this break came with a part number change? The ones I put in out of my parts '99 have the same part number.
It is nice for sure. Got the new ABS unit in today and it works great. No more lights, and functional ABS. So at least an improvement has been made, if not regarding the climate.xanthefin wrote: ↑10 Jun 2023, 08:54

Sounds good - I will send over that data when I get a chance to fully test it
