Yes, indeed. Used to use a single clamp setup when I was a youngster. Vulcanizer, used with hot patches for patching tubes. I don't think they're available anymore.

It was actually fun. You got to fix something using fire. There's a video on YouTube showing the process and this fellow does use some salty language. Funny though. Search "Old School Vulcanizing Tire Patch"

I watched my dad patch inner tubes with the vulcanized patches. I still remember the smell. They were very easy to get the fire started with a single match. i wonder what they used as combustion material in those days. Probable not good to breathe.
