It's a shame I abused my official Volvo rubber mats so much, if I had known they were going to stop making them I would have been a bit gentler and used a cheap one on the driver side. Also I see a lot of carpet mats at the junkyard, except they've usually been thrown in the mud or used to cover engines. At least that's before the yards seemed to start scrapping P80s like it was a sport.

Today my buddy contacted me. He is a recent Employee of a Volvo dealer who has now left. He was at a junkyard I seldom go to as it never seemed to have any P80's. The reason for the call was there was not 1 but 2!! 2000 V70R's there. In 15+ years I have only ever seen 1 V70R in the junkyards here, and strangely that was also a 2000 R. He nearly cried at the waste. I asked him to pull me a spare set of rear calipers and brackets for me. I have been looking for a spare set for 10+ years. They have been NLA for at least 6-7 years if not longer and they are only fitted to the 2000 R. Score!!

Only problem is I now have to go and look myself! That is dangerous, and please don't tell abscate or he will send me an AWD rear end parts list...!

V70Rs never seem to appear in yards... that's a good find (albeit a little sad). I've only ever seen a single saffron '98 R, and at least 1 or 2 850Rs. I've seen 3-4 S60Rs.

You really need the extra 12 inch bar in that setup which I left upstate, but the tow was short and 10 mph so it worked.

I really am thankful it didn’t blow on the BQE in traffic
