A bit cooler this morning so I gave the V70 a wash and wax.

As to the V70 XC's being a good source of NLA parts. I used to pull a bunch of parts, but things like the fuel pumps are likely bad. Not sure you can really test them before pulling unless you can get a jump pack snuck in to try to see if it runs. before pulling it. Need to figure out the connections in the trunk and which wires to use, but a lot easier than 3-4 hours pulling the stuff out to find it is bad.

The question is how badly rusted do the cars get in your area. If the answer is East coast rusty, maybe little from underneath is worth pulling.

We could maybe look at starting a thread we can add to for NLA parts for AWD P80's, and or rare/expensive parts that may be worth harvesting?

There was a thread on volvospeed I had seen a while back with excellent info on parts numbers for practically all the unique parts on the rear subframe of p80 awds. It even had equivalent parts, since Volvo used a lot of rwd parts but used a different part number for the AWD model.
Volvospeed was dead for a while, I haven't been able to find that thread. All that info there one day and gone the next.

As.to what I did to MY volvos today, I got this turd back together and running under its own power to find out it drives like a dream.

Changed the radiator and the lift gate struts on the 96 850. Old rad was a transplant from a previous 850 and finally a seam gave out at 250k. Also replaced lower radiator hose, the Napa hose on there was about 100k it was there when I got the car in 2013.

The mounting holes in the Nissens radiator did NOT line up correctly with the holes in the factory AC condenser. I had to put the condenser a little crooked and use only 3 of 4 screws. For the fourth hole that lined up with neither of the holes in the radiator on the bottom corner, passenger side, I used two zip ties. Gosh how do they make the radiator so inexpensive ($120, I went with FCP)? … build quality seemed mediocre overall, I’m expecting to get about 5 low-mileage years out of the new radiator before it cracks somewhere.

That's disappointing, the Nissens I installed 3-4 years ago fit perfectly. Quality control continues to roll downhill at a very fast pace.
The amount of parts I have to send back (especially to FCP, believe it or not) for customer's cars is astonishing. For example, a BMW wheel bearing that was the COMPLETELY wrong size. Now I have a car on my lift holding up work for a few days until I get a new one... yay!

Like wise. When I fitted a new Nissens about 5 years ago, it fitted perfectly. Unfortunately, maybe product has been outsourced for manufacture to keep costs down.

The nissens radiator I bought in 2021 fit perfectly fine. It was for a 94 non-turbo, automatic transmission.

Can you spot the leak in the aging Blackstone radiator I replaced?

Can't say I have ever seen one fail there before. Most I have seen fail have been at the seems but also around the top hose.
