I bought 1/8” tempered hardboard. I have all the vinyl removed from the old panels and traced them to the new hardboard. The holes in the doors did not have a moisture barrier at all and all the weather stripping is shot. I bought some butyl tape and some 2mm plastic sheeting and will do those up like the newer cars. I’ll replace all the weatherstripping and seals when I strip the car down to paint it.

I am trying to remember from 40+ years ago if any of my amazons had plastic liners in the doors and I believe they just had a butyl type material and clear plastic sheet. The sheet was fairly heavy like the vapor barrier in houses.

I’ve seen some YouTube videos where Amazons have had plastic taped over the holes only, not the whole inner door. I actually got pretty far tonight. I cut out the panels and completed the two front doors.

The bushings in the four link and Panhard bar were suspect and on my list, but I knew I had to get the really old, way too big tires off the back of it first, and didn't drive it after I replaced them.
Pretty nice that you have the time and resources to get the car back online again.

It still has the open diff in it. I’ll look for the paperwork you mentioned, but I think those days of availability (from Dana) are gone. I’ve gone down the google rabbit hole trying to solve that puzzle and settled on replacing what I could get for the diff to tighten up the spider gears. I’ve got the interior back together and in the car. Looks great and smells better too. 😂 I got in a Sachs clutch kit from Rockauto and a VP 2” sport exhaust today and I’m waiting on a set of lowering springs from IPD. The springs are about shot so I suspect that the lowering springs will be about the same height as where the springs are today except the left side of the car is about 2” lower than the right at the moment. Lol I’m taking a week off work towards the end of the month, so I have plenty to keep me from getting bored.

He would've done that kind of thing decades ago, and it could well have been one of his 1800s too.
Curios to see what the clutch disc looks like when you get it on the floor. The impression I got from visiting with him was that he was always pretty hard on the equipment.

I am too. All the clutch hydraulics are new. I replaced the master & slave cylinders, hard & soft lines and the spring. It works but it doesn’t feel good. When I drop all that to get to it I’m going to replace the U joints, center bearing and transmission seals. Either the rear M40 seal is leaking or the speedo cable seal is leaking. I want to rotate the M40 by hand and see how the bearings feel. I’m not going to do anything do it at the moment with it except seals, but I want to see if there is a later project waiting for me. On a note, I got the Sachs clutch kit that everyone else sells without the pilot and withdraw bearing as a full kit including them and alignment tool for a lot less than our major Volvo players. Thumbs up to Rockauto!

I have a dim memory of a conversation with him about the cluster and an incorrect speedo cable, I can't recall if there was some confusion on his part about the 90 degree fitting for the O/D setup. I think he waded back into a story about being in Tokyo in September '45. He was pretty concerned about being unarmed.
As you already know the speedo is way off; that could be the drive gear on the output shaft. Some of the Amazon Gurus over on swedespeed my have insight. One of the several things that was on my list, but I never drove it enough that it bothered me.

I’m not sure about it being incorrect, but I guess I’ll find out when I do the clutch and U-joints. Everything is a learning experience for me with the car and with it being a mish mash of model years, it certainly keeps me researching. Lol One question… Who did the red spray paint under the car? It looks like someone hit certain things with red paint to highlight areas of concern or to remind someone to look further for repairs. The painted parts are lining up with items that I have a question about or have designated as something I’m going to service.
