I tend to collect a lot of stuff, especially tools. Many are duplicates as I couldn't remember if I had a tool or was able to find it when needed!

As some of the regulars on here know I also have a large pile of 2nd hand parts in my garage which I keep for when others or I need them. They are either NLA parts or hard to find/expensive items. Some arrive from owners who have moved on their cars and are selling one item but then insist you take all the rest they have as well!

It is some of those that have ended up with vey happy owners. XC90 load cover, new in the bag P2 XC70 floor mats and more for example. Parts have also ended up in many corners of the world (the world is flat and has corners.......?!). From Taiwan (P80 load bars for the roof rack), gear knob to Serbia, Germany, US, Australia and many more. Always love to help if I can with the spares that fill a large area of the garage!

So you are probably no worse than many car enthusiasts do rest easy!

hi all just for the records today i managed to get the bolt out from the rh side front abs sensor without having to drill it out!i am loving this car being less of a pain than my last pug 406 vomitwagon.
i also found i had a slightly binding front brake on passenger side uk and gave the caliper a service and changed the brake fluid all seems good and tomorrow she has a 300 mile test drive to pick up my daughter and sprogs, the youngest grandson loves the built in seat as he can see around not just the back of someones head! though he often sleeps the whole journey i say it is my super smooth driving  did find the backplates on both front discs are very rusty thin and twisted, off to search a source that might have the right hand drive parts,im fed up with the amount of sellers in uk selling lhd parts for rhd cars it means no ordering online only over the phone and spanish inquisition only to find there wasting your time.
question carbon evap canister is rusty but not visible leaking but slight fuel smell outside car not seemingly from the rear end and no visible fuel leaks along her undercarriage but could it be porous at god knows how many years old?cheers

Not sure why the brake dust shields would be any different on the LHD and RHD car. Can see why some parts may be sided relative to the driver's seat position, but not those.

Forgot the early cars had the metal carbon cannister. Guess it is either going porous, but more often it is the pipework to it that gets perished.

hi all well the old girl drove just super to go fetch the daughter and co except that god damned horrid poxy abs light was on from the second i started her up and stayed on the entire time just taunting me and mocking my puny efforts to put the bugger out!
i today well 2 minutes ago got the post with the other replacement sensor and will try it tomorrow, annoying as when i left it after finishing work it had no abs light other than the first second or 2 and i even drove stopped and restarted with no abs light so was gutted when the thing came this morning and of course it pissing down with rain now, must say the clutch being much lighter is a big bonus esp on the m25 more stopping and stating than the poxy town centre meant to be motorway and speed limit of 40mph for half the journey but yes very pleased with her other than the evil thing, will report progress or not soon!peace

Have you changed the ABS module? They like to fail and if yours is the original it is likely up there in the culprit list. I'm assuming a 94 has one but if it does it sits almost upside down on the ABS pump. Black rectangular box about 1.5" high and about 4-5" in each side. It is held on by 4 x 5mm ETorx bolts that you can't see and have to remove by Braille.

hi neil funny enough i did look for one ages ago when i first read up on the 850 on threads here i did buy one from lithuania but it arrived so broken the only way to hold the connections on is via cable ties so i decided to try it and at first it worked abs light went out,got less then 100yds and the abs light was on,switched engine off for a few secs and restart again light goes out but continue driving and back on! so atleast i think this means the rest of the system is now working as it should, the only option seems a costly rebuild nothing off the shelf in this country with any sort of guarantee and used still £200 the only trouble is i can find just one repair company and there on holiday,is it safe to drive like this? i would not swear to it but i think abs is working as i tried hard to lock up the brakes and it did not so i have a week or so before having to return the daughter and co back home,im not cross about the work on the reluctor rings and sensors as both needed doing but was hoping that would satisfy the evil thing.
also found i still have what looks like gear oil leaking so think my clumsy fitting of the long driveshaft damaged the seal, another job made by me. cheers

It just means the ABS system is not working, so just regular brakes. If you are having no luck finding a repair company, our go to on this side of the pond is our friend Matty at Mid-West ABS. His web site is a wealth of knowledge:

https://midwest-abs.com/

Lifetime ownership warranty as well!

hi neil and all well today i removed the evil thing and gently and with near zero damage removed the cover, pictured is my abd module but having done a search here and elsewhere for images of where i need to solder and none look even similar maybe its because its an old evil thing i even did a google search for images theres plenty of the sealed box but none of any relevants for the inside bits.
i can say ive used a magnifying glass and put me specs on but see no obvious cracks or brown bits i see folk mention the main terminals where plug connects and have been along the row and remelted the existing solder after scraping the covering matter from relevant sections i still see nothing and plugged it back in and its just the same evil thing still cruelly abusing and taunting me! any guidance much welcomed, also i read during search someone mention the early 94 855 having a particular fault re the abs but not saying in the post what said fault might be? i am so shaky today and single handed shaky soldering could well make things worse :!:  meds time i think, wheres me pipe? :D
