Timing belt interval change?
Timing belt interval change?
2006 XC70- 121,000 miles. Timing belt and serpentine done at 73,900 in 2016. What is the interval for changing these belts? I'll assume that I should do a water pump while it is apart. Anything else to be done at that time? Taking a long trip (10 hours travel) in a few weeks. Want to get it in shape.

Look in your manual, I seem to recall in my '03 service interval manual that its something on the order of 135000kms for the first one and the second interval is around 115000kms after that. I could check to see for sure but it will be in your manual if you have it. Yer you should replace with an Aisin WP and replace coolant with Volvo blue fluid.

Just looking now at my manual; Timing belt and tensioner and auxiliary belt to be replaced at 105000 miles, or 120000 miles if you have engine VIN code #59. Volvo doesn't show any replacement interval beyond that and their scale doesn't go past 150K miles. Fuel filter and spark plugs are also in this same mileage interval.

I just saw a P2 S60 Volvo for sale "Timing Belt broke at 130K miles, price reduced, just need a new timing belt".
LOL...
Usually when the timing belt goes, the valves are damaged too.
I'd not go to 150K.
The safest bet is every 100K-110K miles. And replace using the Conti kit which included the TB and 2 pulleys.
Since your car TB was replaced at 74K and has only 47K miles on it, I'd not worry.
Just check old records to be sure the pulleys were replaced too.
PS: Never know the P.O. replaced these parts using Chinese stuff.

7 years, 50k miles on current belt. Take your trip, don’t worry about the belt for another 3-5 years
Let’s eliminate internet speculation of the interval with nice primary reference material
