The catalog helpfully notes it's a "prime candidate for an intriguing restoration project." *

The hilarious part is the seller kept it just like that - FOR 50 YEARS.

Bring a Dolly?

One and a half MILLION dollars..........for that. But I read something last week that said what the Supercollectors are buying is the provenance, where it raced and by whom, and most importantly, the number plate. They only made 13 of these. Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, Imola Grand Prix - these are a huge deal in that world. These old aluminum bodies are remade all the time, every time one of those wealthy vintage racers hits a hay bale wall at Goodwood. The people with those skills are out there and can make it perfect. The steel chassis can be fixed or remade. The fact that it's NOT original will be part of it's public record forever, and the future prices will reflect that. But it is still THAT car, built from the original. A lot like classic wooden boats, most of the wood has been gradually replaced.

Then it will be a museum piece, and brought out for events or Goodwood.
