Abscate is the only other person on here who has ever seen this car, besides you and me.
And since you and I drove the car without any shifting issues, the blocker rings are obviously just fine; since it didn't pop out of gear or exhibit any bad behaviors, your decision to leave the mainshaft intact is a wise choice.

Absolutely, if the gearbox is changing smoothly and not jumping out of gears, leave well alone.

I put a new style neoprene rear main seal assembly in it last night. It still had the old felt seal, which was leaking. I put the flywheel back in and a new Sachs clutch kit in w/ a sealed pilot bearing and stopped for the evening. I’ll put the bell housing back on tomorrow morning and get to work on the trans as soon as FedEx delivers.

Transmission is still apart. I’m waiting on a counter shaft. When I ordered my parts last week I found out afterwards that the shaft just ran out of stock and I told them to ship what they have. Once I got it apart I discovered that the counter shaft for the lay gears had a groove worn into it through the hardened surface on the input shaft side of the box. The needle bearings were buggered up at that location as well. I spoke with VP today and they have a counter shaft for me. I had them ship that and a full set of needle bearings for both shafts overnight. I ended up taking the main shaft apart b/c it came apart when I was taking the rear housing off the shaft to replace the bearing. I spent all day yesterday getting to know it very intimately. 😂 I replaced all the springs for the dogs/synchronizers and picked the worst synchronizer and replaced it (I had one). But really, all the gears and well everything else looks real good. The gears show very little wear.

If I was married, I would be sleeping on the couch. I have this big country sink, perfect for washing bell housings and such.. 😂😂

Still waiting on my overnight delivery… Thanks FedEx. Over bill, under deliver. Anywho, more easter eggs pointing to its possible race heritage. While I was piddling around waiting for parts that would never come today, I cleaned the top cover amongst other things. I didn’t know what the 62 stamped into the cover meant. Was it a factory thing. Well scratched into the cover is “62 Cover”. Wondering if they numbered their transmissions to keep things together. Possible. Also, there is no “Volvo” stamped into the cover above the part number. Two pics of my race cover. 😂 And a couple pic’s of a trans cover I got at a junk yard in Culpeper yesterday. FYI, they have a few 140’s and two 130’s.
