More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.

These tables show all available US states and territories and the COVID-19 data for the last 5 days. I have sorted the states alphabetically and added growth rates for last several days for all states with ranking of each day. Of course, this information changes daily. I have presented the table in two parts because of the screen shot, but it is actually one table in Excel.

Again, results change daily.
The CDC has announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and more states have ended Covid-19 reporting. Since May 14, 2023, 33 states and territories have not reported results. However, I still have been receiving reports from other states through Worldometer. I will be continuing daily reports as long as the information is relevant.

State growth rates for August 13, 2023. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.604) with 25,513 cases, North Dakota (0.172) with 292,604 cases, New York (0.105) with 7,063,492 cases, Wisconsin (0.072) with 2,039,277 cases, and Delaware (0.062) with 334,983 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 389 of the last 417 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 51 of the last 70 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 267 of the last 312 days. Wisconsin has been in the top 5 states for 42 of the last 42 days. Delaware has been in the top 5 states for 62 of the last 62 days.

Several states have stopped posting new case and new death numbers. I will back calculate where possible. These Districts and states have not reported in the last 30 days or more: Alabama, Arkansas, California, District Of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Veteran Affairs, US Military, Navajo Nation, and Federal Prisons.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00182 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.00314. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 55 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last several weeks. There have been 370 of last 559 days with decreasing active case numbers. In the last weeks, the number of reported active cases has dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021.

There have now been 107 million total cases of Covid-19 in the US. This is 32% of the total US population. Reinfections and under reporting will distort the total number of cases.

With new home tests widely available, new case counts are likely under counting the true number of active cases.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00274 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.00373. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 56 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last several weeks. There have been 373 of last 565 days with decreasing active case numbers.

State growth rates for August 20, 2023. All information is based on reported information and actual results may be different.

For your information, the top 5 states or territories yesterday in growth rate 30 day average (the worst containment) are: US Virgin Islands (0.456) with 25,520 cases, North Dakota (0.156) with 292,604 cases, New York (0.099) with 7,070,941 cases, Wisconsin (0.076) with 2,040,152 cases, and Delaware (0.043) with 335,155 cases. US Virgin Islands has been in the top 5 states for 396 of the last 424 days. North Dakota has been in the top 5 states for 58 of the last 77 days. New York has been in the top 5 states for 274 of the last 319 days. Wisconsin has been in the top 5 states for 49 of the last 49 days. Delaware has been in the top 5 states for 68 of the last 69 days.

My calculated growth rate for USA is 0.00186 for yesterday, down from previous day of 0.00274. This is not population or case number weighted. Yesterday, 55 states and territories did not report new cases.

Daily active case counts have been falling the last several weeks. There have been 374 of last 566 days with decreasing active case numbers. In the last weeks, the number of reported active cases has dropped below 800,000 for the first time since July 2021.
