Rear wheels off today to clean the old balance weight glue from the rims and I have to admit that the only non Volvo part on my car is standing the test of time. The only reason I have aftermarket discs and pads fitted is because they were in the boot when I bought the car and the original 1997 discs were still on but in need of replacement. 3½ years of use and they are still in almost new condition. I know from experience if this was Volvo discs they would be rusty AF by now

Those rotors look like they're coated, which is becoming more common.

Yup, I only use coated rotors now. They hold up SO much better than uncoated rotors, especially in wet climates.

I occasionally check the FCP clearance section and have found some good deals. Today I found the front right window switch, part 8637142 for $52. It appears to be no longer available at Volvo though shops like AutohausAZ, eEuroparts, and Pelican have it available for ordering (but might not be able to get it).

These window switches fail and junkyard ones might be broken or have short lifespans. Is this a part you'd add to your stash to support long-term ownership of your car?

Tell that to Geronimo. I just noticed its front passenger window switch is broken. Think I have a spare. The $200+ drivers bank of four switches is what bugs me. They always fail. Might be worth trying to repair them. I've got at least two broken ones (in use).

The mechanical contacts wear out on those. If you can figure out a way to fix them that would be awesome. Now if you could figure out a way to fix the sticky button issue as well even better!

Tell me about it... I had mine all clean for a while, and recently they've gotten REALLY nasty again. I need to take some time to clean them.
