s80 geartronic tcm/ecu is reset needed after repair

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

s80 geartronic tcm/ecu is reset needed after repair

Post by les & reilly »

howdy,,,

a general one here for those who have had problems with their geartronic autoboxes.

does the codes have to be read and re-set after a repair has been carried out.

my autobox has only had one forward gear (max 20mph) i have since found a broken wire which goes to the gearbox plug and have repaired it,
my nearest dealer is 50 miles away.

any feedback may be helpful

cheers

On many Volvo's, unhooking the battery for 20 minutes (and some say to push on the brake pedal during this time) will force the computers into a re-learning mode...called resetting the adaptives. I don't know if your car would benefit from this but could be worth a try.
